While we all love to find a ‘bargain’ it doesn’t mean I want my home looking like everyone else.
Let’s just do a bit of ‘curating’ with our own decor.
We are going to make this Home Goods pedestal find, coordinate with the cabinets. The orange color stain does not go in this kitchen it really sticks out and detracts.
First unscrew the base
Even easier than a can of paint and brush, is a can of spray paint and a box. I used Rust-Oleum chalked (I knew from a previous project that the color was very close to my cabinets)
Any Box will do, just make sure it’s big enough to work around with, this is about 16×16
- First we have no brushes to buy or clean.
- There are no drop cloths to worry about.
- We’ve also eliminated any wind issue with spraying paint.
- Also no can to reseal, this can is not going to dry out.
- Finally a great re-use for all the shipping boxes we all get.
- Easy breezy, clean up, toss the box.
Now our pedestals look like they were made by the same cabinet maker, they coordinate beautifully.
They will also compliment our decor not become the decor.
See how something as small as macaroons, candle or candy is what you notice first? It’s the decor not the pedestal, exactly as planned. You wouldn’t want an amazing cake to be overpowered by it’s pedestal this way it will not be.
A definite upgrade to the $10-$15 pedestal which now have the curated look to go with your kitchen.
